How to choose an adhesive for your application

Start with the materials, your production process and the demands on the finished bond.

Start with the materials

Identify both surfaces you want to join, including coatings, printing and surface treatments. An adhesive that works on one material may need a fresh trial when the surface changes.

Match your production process

Record your equipment, application method, line speed and the time available to bring the surfaces together. Share these details when discussing a grade.

Describe the finished product’s environment

Explain how the bond will be stored, transported and used, including expected temperatures and loads. Selection should reflect the finished product’s requirements.

Validate before changing production

Review grade-specific technical information and trial the shortlisted adhesive on your actual materials and equipment. Agree acceptance criteria before evaluating results.
